A learning disability affects the way a person learns new things in any area of life and how they communicate with the community.
Many individuals in the UK have a learning disability. This means they can have difficulty understanding new information, learning new skills or coping independently.
People with learning disabilities should:
• Have a say in where they live and who they live with
• Have a range of different housing options available to them
• Be support to live as independently as possible.
However more individuals with learning disabilities or learning difficulties are experiencing a better quality of life and for some their personal outcomes, dreams and aspirations are becoming a reality. Our person centred learning disability support plans will focus on this.
Focussing on supporting the individual rather than caring for the individual is also really important to us and we want individuals who use our experiences to live their lives as independently as possible.
We train our care and learning disability support workers in caring and supporting individuals and families coping with people with learning disabilities, plus we have support staff who have a great deal of experience.
Supporting people with learning disabilities
We are a member of BILD which helps us further developing our training and assisting us in further developing our services.
We tailor make each learning disability support package and so for each customer with learning disabilities, we would choose a professional that has had the relevant training and experience. Matching our professionals and our customers to your satisfaction is extremely important.
